<br />3~ <br /> <br />TUESDA '( <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 28. 1961 <br /> <br />The regular semi-montb~y meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br /> <br />with Hayor ~T. Frank Wilson presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, <br /> <br /> <br />Tuesday, 1'-Tovember 28, 1961, at 7 :15 P .1,:., all member s being present, viz., Payor <br /> <br />J. Frank Wilson; Vice-Mayor Fred T. Renick; Thomas J. Burch; E. E. Stone; and <br /> <br /> <br />Harry L. Boaz. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as read the minutes of its regular meeting <br />held November 1 ~., 1961. <br /> <br />In accepting a recommendation of the Planning Commission, pending final action, <br /> <br /> <br />Council called for a duly-advertised public hearing to be conducted in the Counc:_l <br /> <br /> <br />Chamber, December 12, 1961, at 7:15 P.H., on a petition submitted by Lanier Farm, <br /> <br />Inc., requesting the rezoning to "B-1 Business" of a tier of eight lots owned by <br /> <br /> <br />Lanier Ferm and located on Erookda1e Street near its intersection with Spruce <br /> <br /> <br />Street, which petition was referred by Council to the Planning Commission, for its <br /> <br /> <br />consideration and recommendation, on October 10, 1961. <br /> <br />Council unanimously recommended to the Judge of Martinsville City Circuit Court the <br /> <br /> <br />names of Messrs. R. 1&. Henderson, Jr., and Whitney Shumate for appointment to and <br /> <br /> <br />as the City's Board of Assessors for the conduct of the required 1962 quadrennial <br /> <br /> <br />reassessment of local taA~ble real estate. <br /> <br />Upon being reminded of the forthcoming December 8th public hearing on the Planning <br /> <br />Commission's recomnended revisions of the City's Zoning Code and Map, which proposed <br /> <br />revisions were presented to Council on October 31, 1961, Council urged and requested <br /> <br />all members of the Co~mission be present at this hearing. <br />
