~88

TUESDAY

N0V111BER 28. 196)

Attorney Charles N. Bradley, on behalf of the local members of the

International Order of Odd Fellows, appeared before Council and requested

an exoneration of 1961 taxes assessed this fraternal organization's property

located at 107 Jones Street, the request being based on the claim that this

property has been non-revenue producing since December of 1960. Council

denied the request as presented, stating that the fact that this property

failed to yield revenue during 1961-while available for rental or lease as

in the past--is insufficient basis to permit such exoneration.

In view of the fact that Council's second meeting in the forthcoming month of

December is scheduled the day after Christmas, Council re-scheduled this

meeting for Tuesday, December 19, 1961, at 7:15 P.M., in the Council Chamber.

Council unanimously endorsed the "Women's Crusade for Seat Belts" being

sponsored by the General Federation of Women's Clubs as an effort to help

prevent injuries and to help save lives in automobile accidents by urging and

persuading all automobile owners to install seat belts or safety belts and all

occupants to use these belts at all times.

Council was adjourned.

2~~~
W.
