4 TUESDAY JULY 14, 1959 ..- The regular semi-monthly neeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor John W. Shultz presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, Tuesday, July 14, 1959, at 6:30 P.M., the following nembers bei~ present: Mayor and Coun::ilman John W. Shultz; Vice-Mayor and Councilman E. E. Stone; and Councilman Clarence C. Donavant. ,,- After the invocation, Council approved as read the minutes of its regular meeting held June 23, 1959 and of its special meeting held June 30, 1959. Council acknowledged the presence of Mrs. William Norton's Martinsville High School summer school government class. Council then convened a public hearing on a petition presented May 26, 1959 by a corporation known as "Fifteen Cleveland, Inc.", requesting the rezoning of their property at 15 Cleveland Avenue from "A-l Residential" to "business use" classi- fication with professional usage restrictions and/at' covenants. Various owners of property in the area of the petitioner's property were present to discuss a question of set-back establishment on the east side of Cleveland Avenue but no one raised any ..-.. objections to the proposed rezoning. Council, thereupon, unanimously accepted the Planning Connnission's reconnnendation submitted thereon June 16, 1959 and, further, adopted the following ordiname amending the City's Zoning Code, thus approv~ the petition for rezoning (NarE: although plans fer the petitioner's building to be constructed on the property call for a thirty-foot set-back, p:ltitioner verbally indicated at this hearing a prefereme fer a twenty-one-foot set-back): BE IT CRDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this fourteenth day of July, 1959, that the Zoning Code and Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville be and is hereby amended to provide that the property located at 15 Clevelarrl
