<br />42 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JULY 14, 1959 <br /> <br />Avenue, situated on the east side of Cleveland Avenue between the <br />John W. Simmons pr'operty and the Ernest T. Frith property and owned <br />by the corporation "15 Cleveland, Inc.", is hereby rezoned from <br />"A-l Residential" to "B-1 Business", use of which property shall <br />be in accordance with the restrictions heretofore mutually agr-eed <br />upon by the cwmers of said property and the Planning Conunission of <br />the City of Martimville, Virginia. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst reported that, after final adjustments of the City Budget <br />for 1959-60 made in accordance with Coun::il's directive and as adopted June <br /> <br />30, 1959, a total revenue-expenditure budget of $4,158,200.80 has been established, <br />with a General Fund e:rrergency account of $17,536.20 having been adopted. Upon <br />recommendation of City Manager Hirst, the sum of $2,152.25--representing a total <br /> <br />adjustrent from the "street lightll am "welfare" items mentioned in the Manager's <br /> <br />written statement to Council on June 30th-was authorized to be transferred from <br /> <br />the emergency account by the Manager to supplement salary adjustments, this being <br /> <br />done by a recorded and unanimous vote of C oun:: il. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst reported, also, that no satisfactory bids were received by the <br /> <br />City on a proposed gas frarohise recently advertised and, further, that after <br /> <br />subsequent negotiations with the Southwestern Virginia Gas Company-holder of the <br /> <br />present franchise which expires July 30, 1959-a revised pr'oposed gas franchise <br /> <br />has been tentatively agr-eed upon, consisting of the following proposed gas <br /> <br />franchise ordinance which Council placed upon first reading. <br /> <br />(SEE INSERT) <br /> <br />Council indicated, in view of the expiration of the present franchise on July 30, <br /> <br />1959 and the period of time necessary to comply with certain regulations and <br /> <br />procedures, that it desires to have in writing Southwestern Virginia Gas Company's <br /> <br />willingness and agreelIlmt--already verbally expressed--to comply with the terms <br /> <br />and conditions of the proposed frarohise during the interim before its adoption. <br />
