<br />34 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JANUARY 12. 1965 <br /> <br />./ <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor J. Frank Wilson presiding, was held Tuesday, January 12, <br /> <br />1965, beginning at 7:30 P.M., in the Council Chamber, City Hall, with all <br /> <br />members being present, vi z., Mayor J. Frank Wilson; Vice"';Mayor F. T. Renick, <br /> <br />M.D.; Thomas J. Burch; Harry L. Boaz; and E. E. Stone. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held December 22, 1964. <br /> <br />Upon motion, Council placed on first reading--and called for a public hearing <br /> <br />to be conducted thereon at Council's next regular meeting--the following t'wo <br /> <br />recommended revisions of the City's Building Code: <br /> <br />Section 409.4--Group F--Storage Occupancy ("Note") <br />When over two stories in height, an approved automatic water <br />sprinkler shall be installed throughout the building with a <br />maximum allowable floor area increase of fifty (50%) percent <br />permitted in buildings over two stories and not exceeding four <br />stories where such sprinklers are installed. <br /> <br />Section 410.4--Group G--Industrial Occupancy (IlNotell) <br />In buildings over two stories, sprinklers shall be required <br />wi th a maximum allowable floor area increase of fifty (50%) <br />percent permitted in buildings ove" two stories and not <br />exceeding four stories where such sprinklers are installed. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of local court officials, Council placed on first reading-- <br /> <br />and called for a public hearing thereon--the following proposed ordinance <br /> <br />whereby, under certain conditions, the local Municipal Court m~y dismiss <br /> <br />prosecution of assault-and-battery or other misdemeanor proceedings, upon <br /> <br />payment of costs by the defendant to the City of Martinsville; this proposed <br /> <br />ordinance being parallel to the State ~tatute in such cases: <br /> <br />When a person is in jailor under a recognizance to answer a charge <br />of assault-and-battery or other misdemeanor, or has been indicted <br />for an assault-and-battery or other misdemeanor, for which there <br />is a remedy by civil action, unless the offense was committed by or <br />
