<br />19 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />OCTOBER 22, 1963 <br /> <br />...,."'-"- <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor J. Frank Wilson presiding, was held in the Council <br /> <br />Chamber, City Hall, Tuesday, October 22, 1963,beginning at 7:30 P.M. All <br /> <br />members of Council were present, viz., Mayor J. Frank Wilson; Dr. Fred T. <br /> <br />Renick, Vice-Mayor; Harry L. Boaz; Thomas J. Burch; and E. E. Stone. <br /> <br />~- <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its <br /> <br />regular meeting held October 8, 1963. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing <br /> <br />on a proposal--approved by the Planning Commission--to rezone from "A-1 <br /> <br />Residential" to "B-2 Industrial" that portion of approximately twenty-six <br /> <br />acres of land (not already so zoned) generally lying between Doe Run Creek <br /> <br />and right-of-way of the Norfolk & Western Railway Company, in the western <br /> <br />part of the City, for which Mr. J. C. Aaron is petitioner. There being no <br /> <br />objections registered against the proposal, Council unanimously adopted the <br /> <br />following rezoning ordinance amending the City's Zoning Code and Map: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this 22nd day of October, 1963, that <br />the City's Zoning Code and Zoning Map be and are hereby amended to <br />reclassify to t1B-2 Industrial", for zoning purposes, all that <br />property--not already so zoned--consisting of approximately twenty- <br />six acres of land, lying on the south side of the Norfolk & Western <br />Railway Company's right-of-way between the extensions of E Street <br />and Second Street, in the "Doe Run Creek" area. <br /> <br />Also, pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public <br /> <br />hearing on a proposal--for which Lester Lumber Company is the petitioner <br /> <br />and on which the Planning Commission has given its approval--to rezone from <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />"A-1 Residential'! to "B-1 Business" the residue of three lots owned by <br /> <br />petitioner and located in the southeast corner of the intersection of Northside <br /> <br />Drive with Clearview Drive. No objections to this proposal were registered <br /> <br />and, accordingly, Council granted petitioner's request by adopting the <br /> <br />following ordinance amending the City's Zoning Code and Map: <br />
