Frank Vilson presiding (and wIth all members present with <br /> <br />the exception of Councilman Thomas J. Burch, viz., Mayor J. Frank Wilson; Dr. Fred <br />T. Renick; Harry L. Boaz; and E. E. Stone), was held in the Council Chamber, City <br />Hall, Tuesday, July 23, 1963, beginning at 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />,~., <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council deferred the reading of the mirmtes and appointed <br />Public Works Director George W. Brow as acting Clerk of Council in the absence of <br /> <br />Council's Clerk W. H. Yeaman. <br /> <br />Under date of July 23, 1963, the Planning Commission reported that it bas considered <br />the rezoning petition sul:a:itted by' the American Furniture Company (referred to the <br />Commission by Council on July 9, 1963) and, after conducting a duly-advertised public <br /> <br />hearing on said petition, recommends the granting of the petition in accordance 'With <br />property map sul:mi. tted by petitioner and with the establishing of a ten-foot (10') <br /> <br />front-line setback on both Aaron and Broad Streets. In accepting the Commission's <br /> <br />/.....-.. <br /> <br />recanmendations, Council calle d for a duly-advertised public hearing to be conducted <br />by the Council on the proposed reID ning and related matters at a special meeting to be <br />held by' Council on TuesdBiV, August 6, 1963, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning <br />at 4:30 P.M. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Pursuant to recommendations of the Planning Commission, included in its report of <br />July 19, 1%3, it was reported that Messrs. W. M. Carter and C. R. Minter have amended <br />and clarified their petition sul:m1itted June 25, 1963, r~uesting the rezoning of certain <br />property in the 100 block of Chatham Road to "B-1 BuSiness", vhereupon Council referred <br />the petition (as amended) back to the Planning Commission for its consideration and <br /> <br />i <br /> <br />recommendation. <br />
