Frank Vilson presiding (and wIth all members present with the exception of Councilman Thomas J. Burch, viz., Mayor J. Frank Wilson; Dr. Fred T. Renick; Harry L. Boaz; and E. E. Stone), was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, Tuesday, July 23, 1963, beginning at 7:30 P.M. ,~., After the invocation, Council deferred the reading of the mirmtes and appointed Public Works Director George W. Brow as acting Clerk of Council in the absence of Council's Clerk W. H. Yeaman. Under date of July 23, 1963, the Planning Commission reported that it bas considered the rezoning petition sul:a:itted by' the American Furniture Company (referred to the Commission by Council on July 9, 1963) and, after conducting a duly-advertised public hearing on said petition, recommends the granting of the petition in accordance 'With property map sul:mi. tted by petitioner and with the establishing of a ten-foot (10') front-line setback on both Aaron and Broad Streets. In accepting the Commission's /.....-.. recanmendations, Council calle d for a duly-advertised public hearing to be conducted by the Council on the proposed reID ning and related matters at a special meeting to be held by' Council on TuesdBiV, August 6, 1963, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 4:30 P.M. - Pursuant to recommendations of the Planning Commission, included in its report of July 19, 1%3, it was reported that Messrs. W. M. Carter and C. R. Minter have amended and clarified their petition sul:m1itted June 25, 1963, r~uesting the rezoning of certain property in the 100 block of Chatham Road to "B-1 BuSiness", vhereupon Council referred the petition (as amended) back to the Planning Commission for its consideration and i recommendation.
