<br />1963, beginning at 7:30 P.M. All members of Council were present, viz., Mayor J.
<br />
<br />Frank Wilson, presiding; Vice-Mayor Fred T. Renick, M.D.; ffurry L. Boaz; Thomas
<br />
<br />J. Burch; and E. E. Stone.

<br />After the invocation, Council anproyed as recorded tho minutes of its regular

<br />Upon motion, duly seconded and lmanimously carried, Council adopted the following
<br />
<br />ordinance providing for the lev;T and collection of a license tax from owners of motor
<br />
<br />vehicles, trailers, and semi-trailers operating in the City for the license tax year
<br />
<br />beginning V~ch 15, 1963, this ordina..'1ce being the Sfu~e as that adopted February 13,
<br />
<br />1962 for the tax yes.r beginning Barch 1 5, 1962:

<br />BE IT CR DAHlED 'bJ the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular
<br />meeting assembled, that as provided by the Charter of said City, and for the
<br />purpose of providing funds for the maintenance of the streets and high1,.rays of
<br />said Cit~T, there shall be levied and collected a license ta.x for the City of
<br />}.1artinsv:l.lle from the owners of 8"Tery motor vehicle, trailer, or semi-trailer
<br />residing in the City of Martinsvil1e, Virginia, and from every non-resident
<br />"rho j,s the oymer of a motor vehicle, trailer, or sami-trailer which is used in
<br />11 business, employment or profession carried on in said City, other than those
<br />exempted 'bJ lml, for the year beginning I,'Tarch 15, 1963, iV'hich license tax shall
<br />be as follows:
<br />
<br />(a) The License tax to be paid by the owner of any motor vehicle used
<br />in the transnortation of pa:'isongers not for compensation shall be six doll~s
<br />(:~6.o0) per year; the fee :01' motorcycles shall be three dollars ($3.00) per
<br />year, and hlO dollars ($2.00) additiono,l for eQch side car.

<br />(b) The license tax to be paid on each motor vehicle, trailer, or semi-
<br />trailer kept or used for r.:mt or hire for transportation of passengers or property
<br />shaH be twenty-five dollars (025.00) per year.
<br />
<br />(c) The license t2<X to be paid on each motor vehicle, trciler, or semi-
<br />trailer used or designed for the transportation of property shall be hrelve
<br />dolLars (~p12.00) per yerrr.
