<br />,:.1-'11 <br />,. ~ <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />APRIL 8, 1969 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday, April <br /> <br />8, 1969, in the Council Chambe~ City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all <br /> <br />members being present, viz., Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D.; Vice-Mayor Francis <br /> <br />T. West; Harry L. Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and William D. Hobson. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held March 25, 1969 and of its special meeting held March 31, 1969. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing <br /> <br />on the proposed rezoning of two lots on the west side of Ellsworth Street, as <br /> <br />recommended by the Planning Commission, one lot being owned by The First <br /> <br />National Bank of Martinsville & Henry County and the other lot--adjoining-- <br /> <br />being owned by Mr. G. N. DeShazo. There being no objections registered to <br /> <br />this proposed rezoning, Council adopted the following ordinance amending the <br /> <br />City's Zoning Code and Zoning Map, effecting the recommended "C-2 Commercial" <br /> <br />zoning: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this eighth day of April, 1969, that the <br />City's Zoning Code and Zoning Map be, and are hereby, amended to <br />reclassify--for zoning purposes--to "C-2 Commercialll that property <br />consisting of two adjoining lots, one owned by Mr. G. N. DeShazo and <br />the other owned by The First National Bank of Martinsville & Henry <br />County, located on the west side of Ellsworth Street, immediately to <br />the south (or rear) of the First National Bank's principal offices <br />at the corner of Church and Ellsworth Streets. <br /> <br />Also, pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, and in acceptance of the <br /> <br />Planning Commission's recommendations thereon, Council conducted a public <br /> <br />hearing on the proposed rezoning of properties owned by Messrs. William <br /> <br />Dudley Smith and John Wesley Smith, Jr., located at the northeast corner of <br /> <br />R~ilroad and College Streets and the adjoining lot on the east side of <br />
