<br />'~O' <br />~j t <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MAY 28, 1968 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with l~yor F. T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday, May 28, <br /> <br />1968, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members <br /> <br />being present, viz., Dr. F. T. Renick, Mayor; E. E. Stone, Vice-Mayor; <br /> <br />H~rry L. Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and Francis T. West. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held May 14, 1968, and of its special meeting held May 22, 1968. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing <br /> <br />on the petition of the l1artinsville Volunteer Fire Company, requesting the <br /> <br />issuance of a special-use permit to conduct its 1968 Firemen's Bazaar at <br /> <br />Brown Street Field the week beginning June 24th. There being no objections <br /> <br />registered to this request, and in acceptance of the Planning Commission's <br /> <br />recommendation filed with Council under date of April 23rd, Council unanimously <br /> <br />granted said request for special-use permit, with closing time each night set <br /> <br />at 10:30 P.M., and with permission to "hold" for the forthcoming years 1969 and <br /> <br />1970, subject to annual review and confirmation. <br /> <br />In tentative acceptance of the following report of the Planning Commission, <br /> <br />Council called for a duly-advertised public hearing to be held at Council's <br /> <br />regular meeting scheduled for June 25, 1968, on the request of the heirs <br /> <br />of the late Dr. C. T. Womack that the Womack property at 18 Starling Avenue <br /> <br />(and adjoining lot to the rear) be rezoned to "P-2 Professionalll: <br /> <br />The Planning Commission conducted a public hearing on May 16, 1968, <br />on a petition submitted by Mrs. J. Charles Jones and other Heirs of <br />the C. T. Womack property on Starling Avenue opposite Martinsville <br />General Hospital be rezoned from an R-6 Residential classification <br />to a P-2 Professional zone. <br />
