<br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville,
<br />
<br />Virginia, with Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday, July 25,
<br />
<br />1967, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members
<br />
<br />of Council being present, viz., Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D.; Vice-Mayor E. E. Stone;
<br />
<br />Harry L. Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and Francis T. West.
<br />
<br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular
<br />
<br />meeting held July 11, 1967.
<br />
<br />After receiving written reports from duly-constituted Boards of Viewers,
<br />
<br />pursuant to Section 15.1-364 of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended),
<br />
<br />on the closing petitions hereinafter described, Council adopted the following
<br />
<br />ordinances granting said petitions:
<br />
<br />(1) WHEREAS, by petition filed April 25, 1967 with Martinsville City
<br />Council, Mrs. Evelyn H. Stone, Trustee, requested the discontinuance
<br />and abandonment of an unnamed fifteen-foot alley at the southern end
<br />of Overton Street and a portion of an unnamed alley lying along the
<br />rear lot line of Lot 1, property of petitioner, which said lot fronts
<br />on the east side of Memorial Boulevard; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, pursuant to said petition, Martinsville City Council
<br />appointed a Board of Viewers to perform the duties set forth in
<br />Section 15.1-364 of the CODE OF VIRGINIA, 1950, and as amended; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, said Board has duly performed said duties and, under date
<br />of July 13, 1967, has reported in writing to Matinsville City Council;
<br />now, therefore,
<br />
<br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia,
<br />in regular meeting assembled this twenty-fifth day of July, 1967, that
<br />it doth hereby accept the recommendation of said Board of Viewers and
<br />doth hereby order the discontinuance and abandonment of (a) that unnamed
<br />fLfteen-foot alley at the southern end of Overton Street and (b) a
<br />portion of that unnamed alley lying along the rear lot line of Lot 1,
<br />property of aforesaid petitioner, which lot fronts on the east side of
<br />Menlorial Boulevard, as shown on a map of the property of Mrs. Evelyn
<br />H. Stone, Trustee, and as shown on a map of the T. A. Ranson Homeplace
<br />as recorded in Map Book #2, page 205, in the Henry County Circuit
<br />Court Clerk's Office, said alleys being more particularly described as
<br />follows:
