<br />7' <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JULY 1 2, 1 966 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Dr. Fred T. Renick (Vice-Mayor) presiding in the absence of <br /> <br />Mayor J. ?rank Wilson, was held Tuesday, July 12, 1966, beginning at 7:30 P.M., <br /> <br />in the Council Chamber, City Hall. All members, with the exception of Mayor <br /> <br />Wilson were present, viz., Vice-M~yor Fred T. Renick, M.D.; Thomas J. Burch; <br /> <br />Harry L. Boaz; and E. E. Stone. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held June 28, 1966. <br /> <br />Dr.Charles J. Mathes, Director of the Martinsville-Henry County Health <br /> <br />Department, presented to Council a report of findings from the recently- <br /> <br />completed rodent survey, which survey was authorized and requested by Council <br /> <br /> <br />on May 10, 1966. The report cited two areas within the City in which the <br /> <br /> <br />presence of rodents seem to be concentrated and, also, the presence of rodents <br /> <br />in certain old sewer lines. The report further offered the assistance of the <br /> <br /> <br />State Health Department in supervising the placing of poison in the sewer lines <br /> <br /> <br />to eradicate rats therefrom, at an approximate cost to the City of $60.00 for <br /> <br /> <br />materials. Reference was also made to the presence of dilapidated structures <br /> <br />within the City for which procedures are in process to effect removal of such <br /> <br />structures. With appreciation, Council acknowledged the report and unanimously <br /> <br />accepted the offer of assistance in supervising the placing of poison in sewer <br /> <br />lines where needed. <br /> <br />After reviewing the proposed amendments to the City's dog ordinance (Article II, <br /> <br />Chapter 2, of the City Code), as placed on first reading June 28, 1966, Council <br /> <br />called for an advertised public hearing to be held Tuesday night, August 16, 1966, <br />
