80

TUESDAY

JULY 12. 1966

in the National Guard Armory for the purpose of receiving comments and

suggestions from the general public on said proposed amendments.

Council referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration and

recommendation, an application filed by the Henry County Fair & Exposition,

requesting a "special-use" permit to enable this organization to conduct

its 1966 Fair (September 5th-10th) on property identified as "Liberty

Heights", located off Liberty Street and Armory Road.

A request by a representative of a sign manufacturer that Council grant

a variance from its regulations governing the size of signs as related to

the manufacturer's proposal for a "directional'1 sign for the new 220 Plaza

Shopping Center, north of Route 220 North, was denied. It was pointed out

that, although this shopping center is outside of the City limits, by virtue

of an agreement by which the City will allow the Center to obtain water from

the City the Shopping Center has agreed to comply--and must comply--with

certain City regulations and ordinances, including those governing signs.

Pursuant to written request from the firm of John W. Yeaman, Inc., 'Stock

Broker, for the refund of that portion of local business license tax paid

(May 31,1966) for the license tax year beginning May 1, 1966 as related
to (or pro-rated to) the cessation of business by this firm as of June 30,
1966, Council directed a refund of said tax in the amount representing the
"un-used" portion of the license tax year, i.e., the ten-month period from
July 1,1966 to April 30, 1967.
