<br />Bl <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JULY 12. 1966 <br /> <br />Subject to the recommended adding of a paragraph to protect the City's interests <br /> <br />in the event the City enlarges its water filtration plant along Jones Creek, <br /> <br />Council gr311ted an easement--to be amended to include such a paragraph or <br /> <br />condition--to Appalachian Power Company to permit the construction by Appalachian <br /> <br />of a power transmission line across the filtration plant site. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of City Manager Noland, Council unanimously appropriated <br /> <br />(from its General Fund Emergency Ac:count) the sum of $3,086.94 to its 1966-67 <br /> <br />budget appropriation of $52,800.00 (for a total of $55,886.94) to provide <br /> <br />sufficient funds as the City's share of the cost of purc:hasing seven new <br /> <br />35-passenger busses, for which Federal financial assistance is being requested <br /> <br />under resolution adopted by Council on June 28, 1966. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of a letter of petition from Attorney John J. <br /> <br /> <br />Hartley, on behalf of Yellow Cabs, Martinsville, requesting an increase in the <br /> <br /> <br />taximeter rates for taxicabs licensed to operate in Martinsville. Council <br /> <br />continued this request for study. <br /> <br />Council also continued for study the matter of establishing a local business <br /> <br />license tax category and/or rate to be applicable to Clearview Cable Television <br /> <br />Company under its recently-granted franchise to operate a CATV system in <br />Martinsvil1e. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />of Council <br />
