<br />"~8 <br />a <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MARCH 29, 1966 <br /> <br />A special and duly-called meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor J. Frank Wilson presiding, was held Tuesday, March 29, <br /> <br />1966, beginning at 7:30 P.M., in the Council Chamber, City Hall, all members <br /> <br />being present with the exception of Councilman Harry L. Boaz, viz., Mayor J. <br /> <br />Frank Wilson; Dr. Fred T. Renick, Vice-Mayor; Thomas J. Burch; and E. E. <br /> <br />S to ne . <br /> <br />After the invocation, the purposes of this meeting were stated, as hereinafter <br /> <br />covered by these minutes. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing <br /> <br />on the request filed March 8, 1966, by Mr. Harold Kolodny for the S. Kolodny <br /> <br />Estate, for a "special-usell permit to allow IIP-2 Professional" usage of <br /> <br />property located at 17 S. Moss Street, zoned "R-6 Residential". There being <br /> <br />no objections registered to the proposed usage, and in acceptance of the <br /> <br />Planning Commission's recommendation that request be granted, Council authorized <br /> <br />the issuance of the requested "special-usell permit. <br /> <br />Also pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public <br /> <br />hearing on the joint request filed March 8, 1966, by the Southwestern <br /> <br />Virginia Gas Company and the Estate of Rives S. Brown, 'Sr., for a "special- <br /> <br />use" permit to allow "utility stations" usage of property owned by petitioners <br /> <br />and located on an extension of Lester Street, north of the Carolina & <br /> <br />Northwestern Railway Company's right-of-way, to allow rebuilding of the gas <br /> <br />company's facilities recently destroyed by explosion and fire. There being <br /> <br />no objections registered to the proposed usage, and in acceptance of the <br /> <br />Planning Commission's recommendation that request be granted, Council authorized <br /> <br />the issuance of the requested "special-use" permi t. <br />
