<br />t:C <br />Ct C <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 15, 1977 <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br /> <br />with Mayor William D. Hobson presiding, was held Tuesday, November 15, 1977, in the <br /> <br />Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, v~., <br /> <br />William D. Hobson, Mayor; William C. Cole, Jr., Vice Mayor; Barry A. Greene; L. D. <br /> <br />Oakes; and Francis T. West. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved--as recorded--the minutes of its regular meeting <br /> <br />held October 25, 1977. <br /> <br />Having reviewed details pertaining to the proposed shifting of certain recreational <br /> <br />programs from Brown Street Field to Clearview Field, necessitated by the extending of <br /> <br />Mulberry Road across Brown Street Field to Brown Street, near Ellsworth Street, as well as <br /> <br />the estimated cost of making necessary improvements to said Clearview Field, and there <br /> <br />having been no opposition registered by any citizen to said proposal, Council unanimously <br /> <br />authorized said proposed improvements and said proposed shifting or relocating of certain <br /> <br />recreational programs thereto, appropriating therefor the sum of $15,000.00 from the <br /> <br />Revenue-Sharing Fund. <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />Upom motion, duly seconded, all members of Council--with the exception of Councilman West, <br /> <br />who abstained--voted in the affirmative on the motion to adopt the following resolution, <br /> <br />prepared by City Attorney Worthy, authorizing the instituting of condemnation proceedings <br /> <br />against Wray Park Corporation for the purpose of acquiring certain right-of-way and <br /> <br />easements necessary for the extending of Pony Place to Fayette Street and, also, appointing <br /> <br />City Attorney Worthy as Attorney for the City of Martinsville in this matter: <br />
