November i 4, 2000 A regular, semi-monthly meeting of the Virginia, was held on November 14, 2000, in Building, beginning at 7:32 Members present included: Council of the City of Martinsville, Council Chamber of the Municipal P. M., with Mayor Mark Crabtree presiding. Council Mark A. Crabtree, Mayor; M. Gene Teague, Vice Mayor; and Council Members Bruce H. T. Dallas, J. Ronald Ferrill, and Terry L. Roop. Following the invocation by Vice Mayor Teague, Mayor Crabtree welcomed everyone to the meeting. Council Member Dallas moved to approve the Minutes of the October 10, 2000, and November 7, 2000, meetings as presented, and the Minutes of the October 30, 2000, and November 2, 2000, meetings as corrected; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. Council considered business from the floor. Jimmy Crigger, of 1122 South Askin Street, stated, 'Tve heard concerns from the Southside residents about street deterioration. They patch rather than pave completely. Streets should be of the utmost importance." Earl B. Reynolds, Jr., City Manager, replied, "We have a very aggressive paving program. Over the last eight years, approximately $2 million has gone': into paving. Milling will be followed with asphalt from curb to curb. The City does a ~imall amount of the work and helps to supervise safety issues." Vice Mayor Teague added, "The money towards paving is mostly from a State-funded program." Mayor Crabtree stated, "Congratulations, Mr. Crigger, on your son's, Jamie Crigger, election to the Board of Supervisors [County of Henry]."
