WORTHY <br />CITY ATTORNEY <br /> <br />City of Martinsville <br /> <br />VIRGINIA <br /> <br />Enclosure #2 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, at its regularly scheduled meeting on May 9, 2000, the Coundl of the <br />City of Martinsville adopted a resolution to change the polling place of voting precinct ~4 <br />in the City of Martinsville from the from lobby of Martinsville High School to the <br />auditorium lobby of Martinsville High School, subject to the approval by the U. S. <br />Department of Justice of this voting change, and authorized the City Attorney to apply to <br />said Department of Justice for said approval, and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, approvai of this change has been received from the U. S. Department <br />of Justice by its letter dated July 20, 2000, and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, notice of this change has been published in the Martinsville Bulletin <br />once a week for two successive weeks on July 30, 2000 and on August 6, 2000 as required <br />by §24.2-306 of the Code of Virginia, <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of <br />Martinsville, Virginia, in regular session held on August 8, 2000, that the polling place for <br />precinct #4 in the City of Martinsville, Virginia be, and it hereby is, changed from the front <br />lobby of Martinsville High School to the auditorium lobby of Martinsville High School on <br />Commonwealth Boulevard, in the City of Martinsville, Virginia, and <br /> <br /> BE IT FLIRTHER ORDAINED that notice of this change will be mailed to all <br />registered voters whose polling place is changed at least 15 days prior to the next general, <br />special, or primary election, and <br /> <br /> BE IT FLIRTHER ORDAINED that copies of this ordinance shall be sent to the <br />Martinsville Electoral Board, State Board, and the Division of Legislative Services when <br />this ordinance becomes effective, and <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER ORDAINliD, that an emergency exists and that this ordinance <br />shail therefore take effect on and after this date. <br /> <br />Johnathan B.
