TUESDAY. June 27. 2000 <br /> <br />quarter included Randy Martin, Public Works Department; Wayne Caudill, Water Resources Division; and <br />Jimmy Blankenship, Electric Division. The winner of the Second Quarter's Service Excellence Award was <br />Jimmy Blankenship. Mr. Blankenship received a check for $50 after receiving the award. <br /> <br />Next, Council opened the Town Meeting. City Manager Reynolds explained the City's methodology for <br />handling City customer service issues. Mr. Reynolds recognized Brenda Prillaman, Customer Service <br />Representative, for her diligent work in collecting the data for customer service issues. Council Member <br />Haskell commended Mrs. Prillaman for producing a superior document and working towards the customer <br />service issues. The Town Meeting was opened. City resident Gloria Hylton addressed Council and thanked <br />Council Members for finding innovative ways for funding reconstruction of Albert Harris School. Ms. <br />Hylton thanked Council Members for the site cleanup of the former R.P. Thomas Trucking Site on Fayette <br />Street. City resident Thelma Pinkard addressed Council and thanked Council Member Haskell for efforts on <br />the City Council. Mrs. Pinkard said she feels City residents are encouraged to speak out on issues, and they <br />will be heard. Mrs. Pinkard thanked City Manager Reynolds and Wayne Knox, City Planning, Zoning, and <br />Housing Manager, for dedicated work. Mrs. Pinkard also expressed appreciation for the work by the City <br />Sheriff and Police Chief. Steve Draper, City Sheriff, addressed Council and invited citizens and members of <br />Council to attend the National Night Out on Tuesday, August 1, 2000 in the Broad Street Parking Lot. <br />Sheriff Draper explained the purpose of the event is for citizens to send the message that neighborhoods do <br />not support crime. The event features free-food, games for kids, displays, a parade, cartage rides, and live <br />bands. Admission will be free. Sheriff Draper read the names of City Departments coordinating the event <br />and sponsors. To date, the community has donated $6,975 towards the event.
