Ronald Ferrill <br /> <br /> City Manager Reynolds and Wade Bartlett, Finance Director, presented the City's <br />Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2000-2001. Council Member Haskell stated, "This will <br />be the most difficult budget year I've experienced. This will be a trying time for us." <br />Vice Mayor Teague stated, "We knew Tultex's impact and have tough choices to make. <br />Some very positive things are going to happen. I certainly see a light at the end of the <br />tunnel." Council Member Dallas stated, "1 hope we can balance the budget. I hope we <br />can find money to give raises. I want the employees of the City to not lose hope." <br />Mayor Crabtree stated, "This year will actually be the second that the City is <br />experiencing the Tultex issue. The trend was upward, but Tultex was a big hit. We've <br />had a set back but not a lethal blow. Our foundation is firm." Council Member Roop <br />stated, "rm optimistic we'll make it. We just don't need to enter the budget process <br />expecting a great windfall." City Manager Reynolds stated, "All figures will change until <br /> June 30 of this year. The auditors will then come and make any final changes." Council <br />· :-agreed upon, by general consensus and no vote taken, the following additional times for <br /> budget sessions: May 16, 2000, until 9:30 P. M.; May 18, 2000, until 7:30 P. M.; and <br /> May 22, 2000, until 9:30 P. M. <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Teague and Council Member Dallas expressed appreciation to all of <br /> their respective supporters in the recent Council election. <br /> <br /> Council considered authorizing the Mayor to execute an Agreement with Henry <br /> County extending their use of the City's Landfill from July 1, 2001, to June 30, 2003. <br /> <br /> <br />
