Citizen Survey 2000 results clearly indicate an overall satisfaction with City <br />services and with the general quality of life in Martinsville. 84% of Martinsville <br />residents strongly feel the City is a good place to raise a family and educate <br />children with 86% saying Martinsville is a clean city. 76% rated neighborhood <br />life as good to excellent and 79% said they feel safe and secure in the city. <br /> <br />L the four year period since the first citizen survey, the percentage of <br />citizens' responses rating overall city services as good to excellent rose from 83% <br />to 88%. This is a noticeable increase in citizens' satisfaction levels with services <br />offered by the City. <br /> <br />This year's survey, for the first time, captured demographic information. <br />Findings show that more females responded than males with 53% of responses <br />from females and 44% from males. As far as voting district responses, the Druid <br />Hills district responses had a higher number of males responding than females <br />with all other districts showing more females than males responding. 65% of <br />responses were from residents over the age of fifty. 66% of those responding <br />have lived in Martinsville over 20 years. Education levels of high school graduate <br />and above were indicated by 81% of those responding to the survey. When asked <br />if citizens have intemet access in their home, responses indicated 61% did not <br />have intemet access and 36% said yes. <br /> <br />,- 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
