'SWIMMING POOLS <br /> <br />§ '20-12 <br /> <br /> (c) The requirements of this section shall not apply to swimming pool which is con- <br />structed as an integral part of a residence or housed in a separate structure with walls and <br />roof, nor to pools constructed on the water side of waterfront structures. <br /> <br /> (d) A required fence shall be constructed so as to come within two (2) inches of the ground <br />at the bottom, and shall be at least four (4) feet from the edge of the pool at any point. <br /> <br /> (e) A violation of this section shall constitute a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not <br />more than three hundred dollars ($300.00) or confinement in jail for not more than thirty (30) <br />days, or byboth such fine and confinement. <br />(Ord. of 5-10-77, § 9-L6) <br /> State law reference--Authority for above section, Code of Virginia, § 15.1-29. <br /> <br />Sec. 20-8. Operation records. <br /> <br /> Daily records of the operation of a swimming pool shall be maintained. These records <br />shall include pH, the free chlorine residual, water clarity, cleanliness, safety and such other <br />matters as may be required, for the health and safety of the bathers, by the director of public <br />health. These records shall be kept on file for a period of one year. <br />(Ord. of 5-10-77, § 9-1.811]) <br /> <br />Sec. 20-9. Location. <br /> <br /> The location of a swimming pool shall in no way hinder the operation for which it is <br />designed nor adversely affect the bathers' safety or the water quality. <br />(Ord. of 5-10-77, § 9-1.512]) <br /> <br />Sec. 20-10. Water supply. <br /> <br /> All water used in swimming pools shall be from sources that are approved by the director <br />of public health. No piping arrangements shall exist which, under 'any conditions, will permit <br />sewage or waste water to enter the swimming pool Isystem, or water from the swimming pool <br />to enter the make-up supply. <br />(Ord. of 5-10-77, § 9-1.511]) <br /> Cross reference--Water generally, Ch. 23. <br /> <br />Sec. 20-11. Disposal of waste water; outlet drain to be covered. <br /> <br /> Direct connection of a swimming pool to a sanitary sewer or septic tank shall not be <br />permitted. Disposal of waste water to a storm sewer or natural watercourse shall be subject to <br />approval of the state water control board, the director of public health and the building <br />official, having regard for the health, safety and public welfare. The outlet drain shall be <br />covered with a grate of such design that it cannot be readily removed by, or produce any <br />hazard to, the bathers. <br />(Ord. of 5-10-77, § 9-1.518]) <br /> <br />Sect; 20-12.
