IN GENERAL <br /> <br /> Sec. 20-1. Definitions. <br /> <br /> For the purpose of this chapter, the following words and phrases shall have the meanings <br />respectively ascribed to them by this section: <br /> <br /> Fence: A close-type vertical barrier not less than forty-eight (48) inches in height above <br />the ground surface. A woven steel wire, chain link or solid board type fence or a fence of <br />similar construction, which will prevent the smallest of children from getting through~ shall <br />be construed as within this definition.* <br /> <br /> Maximum load: The maximum number of bathers permitted in a swimming poo! at any <br />one time, determined by dividing the total square footage of the Swimming pool water surface <br />area by twenty-seven (27). <br /> <br /> Operator or manager: The individual responsible for operation and management of a <br />swimming pool. <br /> <br /> Person: Any person, firm, partnership, association, corporation, company, governmental <br />agency, club, school or organization of any kind. <br /> <br /> Private residential swimming pooL' Any swimming pool located on private residential <br />property under the control of the homeowner or a tenant, the use of which is limited to <br />swimming or bathing by members of his family or their invited guests. <br /> <br /> Public swimming pooL' Any swimming pool, other than a private residential'swimming <br />pool, intended to be used collectively by numbers of persons for swimming or bathing, oper- <br />ated by any person, whether he be owner, lessee, operator or concessionaire, regardless of <br />whether a fee is charged for such use. Public swimming pool categories Shall be as listed <br />below: <br /> <br />(1) Type "A": Any municipal, community, public school, athletic club or swimming club <br /> pool, or pool for other similar usage and type. <br /> <br />*State la~* reference--Similar definition, Code 'of Virginia, § i5.~i-29. <br /> <br />1186 <br /> <br /> <br />
