§ 19-67 MARTINSVILLE CODE <br /> <br />lines. The numbers shall run one hundred (100) to each block as designated on the Key Map <br />on file in the office of the department of public works. <br />(Code 1971, § 15-31; Ord. of 2-8-83, § 15-31) <br /> <br />Sec. 19-68. Designation of number in cases of doubt. <br /> <br /> In case of doubt, or where a question arises as to the proper number to be assigned to any <br />lot or building, the director of public works shall decide the question and fix the number of <br />such lot or building. <br />(Code 1971, § 15-32; Ord. of 2-8-83, § 15-32) <br /> <br />Sec, 19-69. Determination and erection of number when building permit issued. <br /> <br /> When a building permit is issued, the number of the lot will be determined and assigned <br />by the building official and the number is to be erected by the owner in accordance with this <br />article. <br />(Code 1971, § 15-36; Ord. of 2-8-83, § 15-36) <br /> <br />Sec. 19-70. Display of numbers. <br /> <br /> (a) All buildings erected or fronting on any street or alley shall have conspicuously placed. <br />on such buildings or at such location as may be designated by the building official the number <br />provided for by this article. -' - <br /> <br /> (b) The number plate placed upon any building or erected upon the property upon which <br />the building is situated shall be of metal or other material approved by the building official or, <br />[where this is] impractical, the number may be painted on the front of the building, door or <br />transom. The numbers shall be at least three (3) inches in height [and shall be] so [placed] as to <br />be easily seen from the street. <br /> <br /> (c) When the proper number has been designated and assigned by the city in accordance <br />with the provisions of this article, it shall be the owner or ]essee's responsibility to obtain and <br />affix the number, at his own expense. <br />(Code 1971, §§ 15-33, 15-34; Ord. of 2-8-83, §§ 15-33--15-35) <br /> <br />Sec. 19-71. Replacement of defaced numbers. <br /> <br /> When any number [displayed in accord with this article] becomes defaced in any manner, <br />the owner or lessee of the building shall have, at his expense, the number replaced. <br />(Code 1971, § 15-36; Ord. of 2-8-83, § 15-36) <br /> <br />Sec. 19-72.
