§ 17-32 MARTINSVILLE CODE <br /> <br />Sec. 17-32. Maximum term. <br /> <br /> No solicitor's permit shall be issued for a period longer than three (3) months. <br />(Code 1971, § 14-7) <br /> <br />Sec. 17-33. Renewal. <br /> <br /> A solicitor's permit may be renewed on its expiration date, for an ~dditional period, upon <br />the execution of a renewal application, setting forth that the statements made in the original <br />application are true and accurate statements at the time the renewal application is filed, or a <br />renewal application setting forth all changes in the original application required by a change <br />of facts since the date of filing the original application. For each renewal permit, the applicant <br />shall submit a receipt from the city treasurer in the amount of five dollars ($5.00). <br />(Code 1971, § 14-8) <br /> <br />Sec. 17-34. Revocation. <br /> (a) A solicitor's permit shall be revoked by the chief of police, after notice and a hearing, <br />for any fraud, misrepresentation or false statement contained in the application, for failure to <br />abide by any condition under which the permit was is.sued, for failure to abide by the <br />provisions of this article or any ordinance or law of the city, for the commission of any <br />criminal offense while soliciting pursuant to such permit, and upon any conviction for a felony <br />or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude. <br /> <br /> (b) Notice of the hearing for revocation of a permit under this section shall be in writing, <br />setting forth the specific reason for the hearing and the time and place thereof. Such notice <br />shall be given to the holder of the permit at least three (3) days, if by personal service, and at <br />least five (5) days, if by mail addressed to the holder's last-known local address, prior to the <br />stated hearing. <br /> <br /> (c) In any case where protection of the public interest necessitates such action, the chief <br />of police may direct immediate revocation of a solicitor's permit by personal service of a notice <br />thereof upon the holder or the person he represents. When action in this manner is taken, the <br />holder of the permit shall immediately discontinue all solicitation activities, but the holder <br />shall be entitled to a hearing within three (3) days from the revocation, and the notice of <br />immediate revocation shall designate the time and place of the hearing. <br />(Code 1971, § 14-11) <br /> <br />1018 <br /> <br />[The next page is 1069] <br /> <br /> <br />
