Marking of parking spaces. <br /> <br />The traffic engineer is hereby authorized to designate and have appropriately marked <br />parking spaces along public streets 0r highways and in municipal parking lots for free <br />parking, rental parking and metered parking. Such marked spaces along a street or highway <br />shall be accessible from the traffic lanes of such street or highway. The traffic engineer shall <br />designate the parking space adjacent to each parking metEfr for which such meter is to be <br />used. <br />(Ord. of 2-24-81, ~ 10-101) <br /> <br />Sec. 12-91. Manner of parking. <br /> <br />(a) Every vehicle shall be parked completely within the lines or markings designating a <br />parking space. <br /> <br />(b) Where angled parking is marked, no person shall park at an angle other than the <br />angle indicated by such markings. <br /> <br />(c) No person shall park so that any portion of his vehicle occupies more than one parking <br />space, except that a vehicle which is of such a size too great to be parked withina single <br />designated parking space shall be permitted to occupy two (2) adjoining spaces, provided that, <br />if the spaces are metered spaces, appropriate coins shall be deposited in the parking meters for <br />each space so occupied. <br /> <br />(d) Where parallel parking is designated, the front and rear wheels of the vehicle nearest <br />to the curb or pavement edge shall not be more than twelve (12) inches from the curb or, if no <br />curb, the edge of the pavement of the street, highway or lot. <br /> <br />(e) No person shall park a vehicle in such a manner as to have the front of the vehicle <br />facing oncoming traffic traveling in the lane closest to where the vehicle is parked, <br /> <br />(f) No person having control or charge of the vehicle shall leave a parked vehicle without <br />first securing the emergency brake, cutting off and ,locking the ignition and removing the keys <br />from the vehicle. <br />(Ord. of 2-24-81, ~ 10-102) <br /> <br />/~ <br /> <br />Sec. 12-92. Right to parallel parking space. <br /> <br />Whenever the driver of a vehicle pulls up parallel with a parked vehicle, curb or space for <br />the purpose of backing into a parallel parking space behind, he shall have the first privil~ge of <br />using such parking space, and no driver of any other vehicle shall drive his vehicle into such <br />space or stop immediately behind the first vehicle in such a way as to block access to the <br />parking space. <br />(Ord. of 2-24-81, ~ 10-103) <br /> <br />~, <br /> <br />Supp. No. 20 <br /> <br />732 <br />
