All spaces as- <br />signed by the finance director shall be for a certain specified parking space(s). A rental fee, as <br />may be established by city council, shall be charged for each space per month which shall be <br />bille,d to each firm and payable to the treasurer by the tenth day of the month for the pre- <br />ceeding month. Rent shall be paid on all spaces as noted on the application for permit until the <br />finance department is notified in writing of the firms' wish to discontinue the rental of any <br />space. Parking spaces shall be rented on a basis of a full month. Firms desiring to cancel the <br />rental of any space shall notify the finance director by the last day of the month in which <br />parking space(s) is rented. <br />(Ord. of 2-24-81, ~ 10-92; Ord. Unauthorized use of rental space in municipal parking lot. <br /> <br />No person shall park any vehicle in any rental space in any. municipal parking lot unless <br />such vehicle is bearing or displaying a valid rental permit decal issued for that vehicle and for <br />that space, in accordance with the provisions ofthis section. At the request of a rental space <br />permit holder whose space is found to be occupied by a vehicle in violation of this subsection, <br />such violating vehicle shall be towed away, with the owner of the violating vehicle chargeable <br />with the costs of such removal and storage. <br />(Ord. of 2-24-81, ~ 10-93) <br /> <br />Sec. 12.85. Establishment of parking meter zones. <br /> <br />The traffic engineer is hereby authorized to establish parking meter zones at locations <br />along public streets or highways and in municipal parking lots of the city where it is deter- <br />mined that the installation of parking meters would aid in the regulation and control' of <br />parking in the city, <br />(Ord. of 2-24-81, ~ 10-94) <br />, State law reference-Authority of city with respect to parking meters, Code of Virginia, <br />l~ 46.2.1220. <br /> <br />~..\ <br /> <br />Sec. 12.86. Operation of parking meters. <br /> <br />(a) All parking meters in the city shall be in operation every day, except Sundays, from <br />9:00a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Meters shall operate automatically or mechanically upon the deposit <br />therein of coins of United States currency and shall provide for a maximum of either twelve <br />(12) minutes or one hour of lawful parking time. The fo~owing lawful parking times shall be <br />obtained for the deposit of the following designated coins of United States currency: <br /> <br />(1) Upon the deposit of one nickel: One full hour of lawful parking time. <br /> <br />(2) Upon the deposit of one penny: Twelve (12) minutes of lawful parking time. <br /> <br />(3) Upon the deposit of two (2) pennies: Twenty-four (24) minutes of lawful parking time. <br /> <br />(4) Upon the deposit of three (3) pennies: Thirty-six (36) minutes of lawful parking time. <br /> <br />(5) Upon the deposit of four (4) pennies: Forty-eight (48) minutes of lawful parking time. <br /> <br />(6) Upon the deposit of five (5) pennies: Sixty (60) minutes of lawful parking time. <br /> <br />..~. <br /> <br />Supp, No. 35 <br /> <br />730 <br />
