Loading or unloading vehicle in traveled portion of street. <br /> <br />Except pursuant to special permission given in accor~ance with section 12-76, no person <br />shall stop, stand or park a vehicle on the traveled portion of any street or highway for the <br />purpose of taking on or discharging cargo. <br />COrd. of 2-24-81, ~ 10-79) <br /> <br />Sec. 12-76. Authority of chief of police to grant special permission for loading or <br />unloading operations. <br /> <br />The chief of police zhay grant special permission allowing the backing of a vehicle at right <br />angles to the curb or the stopping or parking of a vehicle in no parking or other restricted <br />zones or in the traveled portion of a street or highway for the purpose of loading or unloading <br />of materials, subject to such terms and conditions as shall be set forth by the chief of police in <br />order to minimize interference with the orderly and safe flow of traffic on the streets and <br />highways. <br />(Ord. of 2-24-81, ~ 10-81) <br /> <br />Sec. 12-77. Parking in bus stops or taxicab stands. <br /> <br />No person shall park any vehicle other than a bus in a bus stop or any vehicle other than <br />a taxicab in a taxicab stand, except that the driver of a passenger vehicle may stop temporar- <br />ily in s':lch areas for the immediate purpose of loading or unloading passengers and while <br />actually engaged therein when such stopping, d_oes' not interfere with the use of such area by a <br />bus or taxicab. No person shall stop, stand or park any bicycle in any bus stop or taxicab <br />stand. <br />(Ord. of 2-24-81, ~ 10-82) <br /> <br />/~ <br /> <br />Sec. 12-78. Stopping bus on traveled portion of street for purpose of loading or . <br />unloading passengers. <br /> <br />No bus except a school bus shall be stopped on the traveled portion of any street or <br />highway for the purpose of taking on or discharging passengers, unless the operator cannot <br />safely pull off of the traveled portion of the street or highway. A school bus may be stopped on <br />the traveled portion of a street or highway when taking on or discharging school children, but <br />only at places where the school bus can be clearly seen for a safe distance in both directions <br />and only when red flashing signals on the front and rear of the bus are activated. <br />(Ord. of 2-24-81, ~ 10-80) <br /> <br />Sec. 12-79. Parking prohibited in certain zones and for certain purposes. <br /> <br />No person shall park any vehicle on any public street or highway or in any municipal <br />parking lot: <br /> <br />(1) In any place or zone where parking is prohibited by "No Parking" signs or by yellow <br />lines painted on the curb. <br /> <br />(2) For the purpose of displaying such vehicle for sale. <br /> <br />Supp. No. 20 <br /> <br />~~ <br />/ ., <br /> <br />728 <br />
