Designation of through streets. <br /> <br />The traffic engineer is hereby authorized to designate streets or parts of streets as <br />through streets. <br />(Code 1971, ~ 10-51) <br /> <br />Sec. 12-34. Designation and marking of one-way streets. <br /> <br />(a) The traffic engineer may designate any street or highway or any roadway for one-way <br />traffic and shall erect appropriate signs, and traffic thereon shall move only in the direction <br />designated. <br /> <br />(b) The traffic engineer is hereby authorized to determine and designate streets, parts of <br />streets or specific lanes thereon upon which vehicular traffic shall proceed in one direction <br />during one period and the opposite direction during another period of the day and shall place <br />and maintain appropriate markings, signs, barriers or other devices to give notice thereof. <br />The traffic engineer may erect signs temporarily designating lanes to be used by traffic <br />moving in a particular directiop., regardless ofthe center line of the roadway. <br /> <br />(c) It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any vehicle in violation of markings, <br />signs, barriers or other devices placed in accordance with this section. <br />(Code 1971, ~~ 10-17, 10-18) <br /> <br />Sec. 12-35. Designation and marking of play streets. <br /> <br />(a) The traffic engineer, subject to the approval of the director of public works, is hereby <br />authorized to declare and to establish, whenever he shall find that the public safety and <br />convenience are best served thereby, any street or part thereof as a play street and to place <br />appropriate signs and barricades enclosing the roadway indicating and helping to protect the <br />same. <br /> <br />/~, <br /> <br />(b) Whenever authorized signs and barricades are erected enclosing any street or part <br />thereof as a play street, no person shall drive a vehicle upon any such street or portion thereof. <br />(Code 1971, ~~ 10-53, 10-54) <br /> <br />Sec. 12-36. Designation of private driveways as "entrances" or "exits." <br /> <br />The traffic engineer shall also have the authority to designate private driveways as either <br />"entrances" or "exits," and when the property owner or lessee is notified in writing of such <br />designation, such owner or lessee ~ shall install appropriate sign~ ill ac~()rdance ~it~spec~fica_- <br />tions drawn by the traffic engineer, and the drivers of all vehicles using such driveways shall <br />obey such signs. <br />(Code 1971, ~ 10-130) <br />Cross reference-Driveways generally, ~ 19-33 et seq. <br /> <br />Sec. 12-37.
