§ 1-15 MARTINS~ILLE CODE <br /> <br /> which the action is filed and remitted to the city treasurer and held by such treasurer <br /> subject to disbursement by the council for the construction, renovation or maintenance <br /> of courthouse or jail and court-related facilities and to defray increases in the cost of <br /> heating, cooling, electricity and ordinary maintenance. <br /> <br /> (2) The assessment provided for herein shall be in addition to any ether fees prescribed by <br /> law. <br />(Code 1971, § 1-8; Ord. No. 98-1, <br />adopted Jan. 13, 1998, which pertained to additional court costs, did not specify manner of <br />codification; hence, inclusion as § 1-15(b) has been at the discretion of the editor. <br /> <br />Sec. 1.16. Special assessment for funding of courthouse security personnel as part <br /> of costs in criminal and traffic cases. <br /> <br /> Five dollars ($5.00) shall be assessed as part of the costs in each criminal and traffic case in <br />the general district court of the city or in the c/rcuit court of the city in which the defendant <br />is convicted of a violation of any statute or ordinance, pursuant to the provisions of section <br />53.1-120D of the 1950 Code of ~F~rginia, as amended. Such assessment shall be collected by the <br />clerk of court in which the case is heard, remitted to the city treasurer and held by such <br />treasurer subject to appropriation by this council to the sherilTs office for the funding of <br />courthouse security personnel. This assessment shall be in addition to all other costs <br />prescribed by law. <br />(Ord. No. 2002-2, 5-14-2002) <br /> <br />Sec. 1-17. Special assessment to defray the costs of processing arrested persons into <br /> local or regional jails. <br /> <br /> A processing fee in the amount of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) shall be assessed as part of the <br />costs on any individual admitted to a local or regional jail following conviction in a city court. <br />Such fee shall be ordered as part of court costs by the clerk, deposited into the account of the <br />city treasurer, and shall be used by the city sheri~s office to defray the costs of processing <br />arrested persons into local or regional jails.
