The important thing is to log complaints with Brenda <br />Prillaman." Mr. Cdgger asked, "Is there anything that can be done with people who <br />repeatedly violate the Maintenance Property Code?" Mayor Crabtree added, "1 would <br />like to see more done with repeat offenders." Council Member Haskell stated, "We've <br />talked in the past of an escalating fine. I request that Staff work with Mr. Worthy." <br />David B. Worthy, City Attorney, stated, "Every ten days, it's a new offense. I would <br />have to check into the legality of an escalating fine." Mrs. Pinkard stated, "1 have a <br />concern with the former Moorefield Cleaning building and the radio shop next door." <br />Scott Reynolds, of Forest Street, replied, "I'm recycling atthe radio shop. Over the past <br />ten years, the garbage tax has increased, and all garbage can't be picked up. Two <br />weeks ago, I carried off 632 pounds." . Mr. Cdgger asked, "Have you discussed the <br />possibility of rental inspections before and after renting?" Vice Mayor Teague replied, <br />"Yes. A rental certification plan is in our 1999 Strategic Plan." Tommy Pulliam, <br />representing Fuller Memorial Baptist Church, stated, ':The City owns an 'imaginary' road <br />from our driveway to Birchland Drive. We're having a. major problem with kudzu. I <br />request that the City, as they have done before, help with maintenance of this property."' <br />Mrs. Pd!laman logged the complaint. Mr, Reynolds asked, "Are there any plans by the <br />Electric Department to upgrade lines on. Forest Street? Also, Council needs to look at <br />City infrastructure and how to draw people in." Council Member Haskell replied, "During <br />my time on Council, I have seen a major improvement in Martinsville through fiber <br />optics, school buildings~ and other major improvements."
