January 11,2000 <br /> <br />motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: <br />Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Haskell, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Wade Bartlett, Director of Finance, presented the Financial Report for the Month <br />Ending November 30, 1999. Council Member Haskell asked, "Do you have any <br />forecast of the shortfall due to the economic down-turning?" Mr. Bartlett replied, "There <br />won't be in the meals tax..We'll have to wait and see in the general fund. All others <br />would be premature at this time." Council Member Roop asked, "When will we see <br />results of the City Manager's cost-savings efforts?" Mr. Reynolds replied, "We've had a <br />good response from all departments regarding cost-savings. You'll see them on the <br />next Financial Report for December. I've met with Mr. Bartlett regarding a different <br />format for the Financial Report" Mr. Jones asked, "Should we see an increase in the <br />sewer tax come July 1 ?" Mr. Bartlett replied, "That's not for me to say." <br /> <br /> Ms. Wyatt stated, "A regional job fair will be sponsored by the City in coordination <br />with the County of Henryy, Virginia Employment Commission, City School System, and <br />Henry-Martinsville Social Services on Thursday, January 13, 2000, National Guard <br />Armory, 1:00 - 6:00 P. M. Approximately 60 employers will be available." Council <br />Member Haskell asked, "Will people be there to help complete applications?" Ms. Wyatt <br />replied, "Yes. Volunteers will be on hand to help with application completion, resume <br />writing, and interviews." <br /> <br /> Council considered approving the Consent Agenda. Council Member Roop <br />moved to approve the following Consent Agenda items; the motion was duly seconded <br />and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - <br />Crabtree, Dallas, Haskell, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None: <br /> <br /> <br />
