Council Member Roop, also Executive Director, stated, "Five alternatives exist--two would close the Piedmont Academy or at least take away State funding, two others provided for affiliations, and the other one provided funding per officer per training. The State provides $126,212; closure would not provide savings to the State-- the money would go from our community to some other." Council Member Haskell moved to adopt the following resolution; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 4 - 0; Yeas (4) - Crabtree, Dallas, Haskell, Teague; Nays (0) - None; Abstain (1) - Roop: WHEREAS, the Piedmont Regional Criminal Justice Training Academy was created to provide mandated and specialized criminal justice training for the Counties of Henry, Patrick and Pittsylvania and the Cities of Danville and Martinsville and the Towns of Chatham and Gretna; and WHEREAS, the Piedmont Regional Criminal Justice Training Academy was created to decrease the expense to local agencies that was associated with the increased and unnecessary cost of
