December 14, 1999 <br /> <br />a high level and required a lot of hours and commitment. This level totaled over 250 <br />training hours. This would not have been possible-Without the support of the City, Dr. <br />Keith Nichols, and the State." <br /> <br /> Council recognized the Martinsville-Henry County Rescue Squad for <br />reinstatement of its Advanced Life Support ground transport license by the Virginia <br />Office of Emergency Medical Services. Mr. Anderson stated, "With the support of the <br />City, all members pulled together and passed with flying colors. Those here tonight <br />include Virginia L. Phillips, Trudie Hairston, Linda Wimbush, Ronald Spencer, Dante <br />Long, Cookie Butler, Tommy Cook, and Bobby Phillips." Mayor Crabtree responded, <br />"Thank you for all you do to ensure the safety of our citizens." <br /> <br /> Council considered adoption of a Resolution recognizing Joel M. Amos, Resident <br />Engineer with the Virginia Department of Transportation, on his retirement. Leon <br />Towarnicki, Public Works Director, stated, "Joel is retiring this month. His expertise and <br />leadership Will be missed." Council Member Dallas moved to adopt the following <br />resolution; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all <br />members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Haskell, Roop, Teague; Nays <br /> <br />(0) - None: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Joel M. Amos has served as the Resident Engineer for <br />the Virginia Department of Transportation serving the Counties of <br />Henry and Patrick, the Towns of Stuart and Ridgeway, and the City <br />of Martinsville since July 1, 1974; and <br />WHEREAS, during this time our community has experienced <br />significant growth and change which has necessitated many <br />changes and improvements in our local transportation system; and <br />WHEREAS, during this time, the assistance and guidance provided <br />by Joel M. Amos in helping to plan, schedule, and construct many <br />of the street and highway improvements in our area has been <br />invaluable and has led to a much safer and more efficient local <br />transportation network; and <br /> <br /> <br />
