,, · . <br /> 208 <br /> <br />August 24, 1999 <br /> <br /> A regular, semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, was held on August 24, 1999, in the Council Chamber, City .Hall, beginning at <br />7:00 P. M., with Mayor Mark Crabtree presiding. Council Members present included: <br />Mark A. Crabtree, Mayor; M. Gene Teague, Vice Mayor; and Council Members Bruce <br />H. T. Dallas, Elizabeth Ho Haskell, and Terry L. Roop. <br /> <br /> Following delivery of the invocation by Council Member Dallas, Mayor Crabtree <br />welcomed everyone to the meeting. <br /> <br /> Council Member Dallas moved to approve, as amended, the Minutes of the May <br />4, 1999, May 11, 1999, and May 13, 1999, meetings; the motion was duly seconded <br />and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - <br />Crabtree, Dallas, Haskell, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None; Absent (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Council considered business from the floor. Elaine Hedrick, of 108 Park Street, <br /> thanked Council for their assistance in having the wall removed in her neighborhood. <br /> <br /> Mayor Crabtree opened the Public Hearing regarding the possible endorsement <br /> of a request by the County of Henry for an amendment to the Joint Martinsville - Henry <br /> County Enterprise Zone Plan. Wade Nester, Enterprise Zone Coordinator, stated that in <br /> order to maintain the maximum acreage limit, Henry County plans to delete 309.19 <br /> acres from its West Zone and add 604.84 acres of the Patriot Centre at Beaver Creek <br /> and 69.04 acres along Rives Road. He added that this will benefit both areas and that <br /> no changes were planned for incentives. He also expressed appreciation for the City's <br /> <br />cooperation. <br />City-County <br />originally planned. <br /> <br /> Council Member Haskell stated that this project is one of the best joint <br />economic development ventures and asked about opportunities not <br /> <br /> Mr. Nester responded, "There will be 18 additional tracts, ranging <br /> <br /> <br />
