Vice Mayor Teague moved to table this issue until the first meeting in January 2000; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Haskeli, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. Council considered adoption of. a Resolution expressing opposition to the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Committee's study mandated by Senate Joint Resolution 411 (1999) proposing the closing of the Piedmont. Regional Criminal Justice Training Academy. Council Member Roop, also Executive Director, stated, "Five alternatives exist--two would close the Piedmont Academy or at least take away State funding, two others provided for affiliations, and the other one provided funding per officer per training. The State provides $126,212; closure would not provide savings to the State-- the money would go from' our community to some other." Council Member Haskell moved to adopt the following resolution; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 4 - 0; Yeas (4) - Crabtree, Dallas, Haskell, Teague; Nays (0) - None; Abstain (1) - Roop: WHEREAS, the Piedmont Regional Criminal Justice Training Academy was created to provide mandated and spedalized criminal justice training for the Counties of Henry, Patrick and Pittsylvania and the Cities of Danville and Martinsvi!le and the Towns of Chatham and Gretna; and
