AGENDA <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />CITY OF MARTINSVILLE, VIRGINIA <br /> <br />City Council Chamber- Municipal Building <br />7:00 P.M. - Tuesday, November 23, 1999 <br /> <br />II. <br /> <br />III. <br /> <br />IV. <br /> <br />Invocation - Mayor Mark A. Crabtree <br /> <br />Consider approval of the minutes of City Council's meetings of <br />November 8 and 9, 1999. (See Enclosure #1-a and #l-b) <br /> <br />Recognition of Marshall L. Claybrooks, a City employee, for receipt <br />of the Martinsville Area Disabilities Employment Network (MADEN) <br />Employee of the Year Award. <br /> <br />COMMENTS: This Award is given by MADEN yearly to employees <br />with disabilities who have overcome obstacles to remain employed <br />as productive members of the work force. Mr. Claybrooks works at <br />the City's Landill] and was nominated by Jeff Joyce and Leon <br />Towarnicki for consideration in selection of this Award. <br /> <br />Business from the floor. <br /> <br />Conduct a Public Hearing on the disposal of City-owned real estate <br />known as Lot 34 of Railway Street by the conveyance of same at <br />public or private sale. (See Enclosure #2) <br /> <br />COMMENTS: The City has no plans for use of this small parcel of <br />land. This Public Hearing will allow us to negotiate possible <br />disposal should someone be interested in purchasing it. <br /> <br />Conduct a Public Hearing on the disposal of City-owned real estate <br />by the conveyance of same to the Martinsville Redevelopment and <br />Housing Authority, as follows: <br /> <br />A. All of the remaining parcels in the Clearview Business Park. <br /> <br />B. A parcel fronting Brookdale Road. <br /> <br />COMMENTS: This Public Hearing is a formality for designating <br />City-owned land that is for sale. We recommend that Council <br />authorize the City Attorney to prepare the proper documents <br />conveying these properties to the Martinsville Redevelopment and <br />Housing Authority. <br /> <br /> <br />
