<br />
<br /> Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce,
<br />Martinsville Jaycees, Inc., Martinsville Uptown Revitalization Association,
<br />Angler's Choice, Checkered Flag Sports, and Coca-Cola
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce, Martinsville Jaycees,
<br />Inc., Martinsville Uptown Revitalization Association, Angler's Choice, Checkered Flag
<br />Sports, and Coca~Cola were the major sponsors of Speed Fest; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce, Martinsville Jaycees,
<br />Inc., Martinsville Uptown Revitalization Association, Angler's Choice, Checkered Flag
<br />Sports, and Coca-Cola spent many hours of time and effort to plan and conduct Speed
<br />Fest; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the festival conducted by Martinsville,Henry County Chamber of
<br />Commerce, Martinsville Jaycees, Inc., Martinsville Uptown Revitalization Association,
<br />Angler's Choice, Checkered Flag Sports, and Coca-Cola attracted approximately 30,000
<br />visitors to Uptown Martinsville, creating good will, future visitors and retail customers,
<br />and helping to promote our visitors and tourism initiative; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce, Martinsville Jaycees,
<br />Inc., Martinsville Uptown Revitalization Association, Angler's Choice, Checkered Flag
<br />Sports, and Coca-Cola have made this project a regional attraction with potential for
<br />many successful years in the future; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, Speed Fest will attract many visitors to-Marfinsville-Henry County in the
<br />future, enhancing our retail, tourist, hospitality and food service businesses providing
<br />expansion of the tax base and job growth; now, therefore,
<br />
<br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia in regular ses-
<br />sion assembled October 26, 1999, that it does hereby thank and recognize Martinsville-
<br />Henry County Chamber of Commerce, Martinsville Jaytees, Inc., Martinsville Uptown
<br />Revitalization Association, Angler's Choice, Checkered Flag Sports, and Coca-Cola for
<br />their contribution in supporting economic growth in the City of Martinsville and Henry
<br />County.
