TUESDAY, JANUARY 10, 1989 <br /> <br />In compliance with the requirements of Section 2.1-344 of the CODE OF VIRGINIA <br />(1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried <br />by a recorded vote, Council convened into an Executive Session for the purposes <br />of (1) considering nominees for appointment or reappointment to the'position of <br />Alternate Member of the West Piedmont Planning District Commission's Technical <br />Advisory Committee; (2) discussing a possibility of selling a specific tract of <br />City-owned property; and (3) a proposed transfer by the City School Board of <br />certain real estate to the City of Martinsville. At the completion of this <br />Executive Session, Council reconvened into regular session where it unanimously <br />appointed Mrs. Robert (Mary) Carrington as a alternate member of the WPPDC's <br />Technical Advisory Committee for the unexpired term of Dr. Mark A. Crabtree <br />(recently appointed to full membership on the committee), which term will end <br />December 31, 1990. Council took no actions on the other matters considered in <br />its Executive Session. <br /> <br />Councilman Cole recommended for reading by other members of Council, if they <br />have not already done so, a report from Mr. Ottis Birge, Executive Director of <br />the Piedmont Regional Community Services Board ("Chapter 10 Board"), pertaining <br />to financing and budgetary matters. In so doing, Mr. Cole commended Mr. Birge <br />for his understanding and efforts in these matters. <br /> <br />Mayor Oakes then declared this meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />W , Clerk of Council <br /> <br /> <br />
