TUESDAY, NOV~4BER 29, 1988 <br /> <br />Councilman Groden, after correcting a statement attributed to him by the local <br />newspaper, regarding local taxes, asked for updated information on the new (or <br />"third") sewage treatment plant to be constructed by the Henry County Public <br />Service Authority, as to capacity, operating-and-maintenance costs~ etc., and <br />as these factors are projected to impact upon the City of Martinsville, <br />inasmuch as some of the plant's capacity will be allocated to serve some of <br />Martinsville needs. <br /> <br />Councilman Cole asked that matters concerning the forthcoming 1989-90 City <br />Budget be placed on the agenda for Council's forthcoming regular December 13th <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Through Mayor Oakes, Council acknowledged receipt of a letter from the Virginia <br />State Library & Archives expressing appreciation for the City's making <br />available the Council's office space to this agency to microfilm City records. <br /> <br />City Manger Brown asked that Council continue its review, at Council's <br />forthcoming December 13th meeting, of the Virginia Municipal League's 1989 <br />legislative program. <br /> <br />In accordance with the requirements of subsection A. 1. of Section 2.1-344 of <br />the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and <br />unanimously carried, Council convened into an Executive Session for the purpose <br />of considering nominees for appointment or reappointment to certain City boards <br />and commissions and for recommendation to other agencies for appointment. At <br />the conclusion of this Executive Session, Council reconvened into regular <br />session and unanimously acted, as follows, on the matter considered in closed <br />session: <br /> <br /> <br />
