348

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 11, 1988

to color removal and (we, the City and concerned industries) are proceeding

accordingly" and that" .... testing with ozone on the City's WPCP effluent

confirmed that the installation and operating cost for ozone facilities at the
City's plant, while still very expensive at a capital cost possibl~ exceeding
$5,000,000, was no more and possibly less than for individual pretreatment
installations at the separate industries". This report indicated that, at the
request of the involved industries, although ozone is the proven chemical
oxidation method, high dosage chlorination is being considered as a possible
less-expensive alternative.

Mrs. Rebecca C.
