TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 1988 <br /> <br />Recent discussion regarding the providing of off-street <br />parking spaces for National Business College students and a <br />request from CONTACT for four off-street parking spaces (in <br />the parking lot recently leased by the City from GBG <br />Enterprises, located at Church and Broad Streets). <br /> <br />By Vice-~Mayor Willjams: <br /> <br />A problem pertaining to a recent electric service payment by <br />Mr. Eddie Biggs (considered by the City, according to <br />established rules, as a "late" payment because of late post- <br />mark); <br /> <br />A September 15th letter of endorsement of the "Route 58 <br />Super Highway" concept by the Traffic & Transportation <br />Committee (Dr. John D. French, Chairman) of the <br />Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce; and <br /> <br />A September 13th letter from Mr. H. A. Jessie, President of <br />the Downtown Business Association, expressing the DBA's <br />appreciation of the leasing by the City of the parking lot <br />at Church and Broad Streets and making same available for <br />free customer parking. <br /> <br />By Councilman Cole: <br /> <br />The Governor's Conference on Housing (being attended or to <br />be attended by Mrs. Rebecca C. Miller, the City's Director <br />of Housing Services). <br /> <br />By Council: <br /> <br />The scheduling of a breakfast for Council on Monday, October <br />3rd, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, while attending the 1988 <br />Annual Conference of the Virginia Municipal League. <br /> <br />Pursuant to the requirements of subsection A. 1 of Section 2.1-344 of the CODE <br />OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded, and <br />unanimously carried by a recorded vote, Council convened into an Executive <br />Session for the purpose of considering nominees for appointment or <br />reappointment to membership on the Board of Directors of The Piedmont Seniors <br />of Virginia, Inc. At the conclusion of this Executive Session, Council <br />reconvened into regular session and, upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously <br /> <br /> <br />
