TUESDAY, JULY 12, 1988 <br /> <br />by the division (which has 16,325 subscribers), seventy-five per cent of those <br />calls or. inquiries have been responded to by the division and, further, that <br />many of those calls came 'about as a result of interruption of cable service <br />caused by power outage or failure. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-publi'shed public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on <br />Mr. James W. Severt's petition seeking the rezoning of Lot No. 22 at 106 South <br />Ellsworth Street (immediately to the rear of an office building Mr. Severt is <br />constructing at the southwest corner of Market and Ellsworth Street) from R-6 <br />Residential to C-1A Commercial. There being no objections registered by any <br />citizen to the petition, Mayor Oakes declared this public hearing closed; <br />whereupon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council approved said <br />petition (as recommended by the Planning Commission) and effected the requested <br />C-1A zoning through the following ordinance, as adopted, amending the City's <br />Zoning Map: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the city of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this twelfth day of July, <br />1988, that the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville be--and is <br />hereby--amended tothe extent that property identified as Lot No. <br />22 located at 106 South Ellsworth Street, Martinsville, Virginia, <br />as shown in Section M of page 33 of the City's Tax Map, is hereby <br />rezoned from R-6 Residential to C-1A Commercial. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency <br />existing, this ordinance shall be in force on and after July 13, <br />1988. <br /> <br />Also, pursuant to duly-published public notice, Council conducted a public <br />hearing on Mr. W. Lee Hussey's petition (recommended by the Planning Commission <br />for Council's approval, subject to provision of a private dedicated access <br />easement) seeking the closing and abandonment of an unimproved street <br />identified as Doe Street, which intersects Lavinder Street, and an unimproved <br /> <br /> <br />
