TUESDAY, JUNE 14, 1988 <br /> <br />Council was reminded of its organizational meeting required by the City Charter <br />(following each biennial councilmanic election) to be conducted July 1, 1988, <br />in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 9:00 A.M. (probably to be <br />convened at 9:30 A.M., to accommodate a member's conflict in schedule). <br /> <br />Councilman Cole requested that City Manager Brown give Council a report on the <br />City's employee-suggestion program proposed by Mr. Brown at Council's meeting <br />held September 8, 1987. <br /> <br />Pursuant to applicable provisions of Section. 2.1-344 of.the CODEOF VIRGINIA <br />(i950, and as amended) and, upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried <br />by a recorded vote, Council convened into an Executive Session for the purpose <br />of considering nominees for appointment or reappointment to various boards and <br />commissions (generally for terms beginning July 1, 1988) and for the purpose of <br />considering a personnel matter. At the conclusion of this Executive Session, <br />Council reconvened into regular session and, upon motions, duly seconded and <br />unanimously carried (with the exception of Councilman Cole's "No" vote on the <br />motion to reappoint all incumbent members of the Planning Commission whose <br />terms expire June 30, 1988), Council appointed and/or reappointed the following <br />citizens to memberships on the following boards, commissions, and agencies, for <br />the terms indicated: <br /> <br />PLANNING C~.~ISSION <br /> <br />Messrs. James H. Ford, Earle W. Green, Julius <br />C. Murrell, and Joseph W. Pritchett reappointed <br />for four-year terms beginning July 1, 1988. <br /> <br /> <br />
