TUESDAY, MAY 24, 1988 provided (or is provided) this specific area just outside the City's corporate limits. Reference was also made to the fact that the City is already providing water and sewer service to other nearby businesses, whereas the Henry County PSA has no facilities in place to provide such service. Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council adopted a resolution which authorizes the Martinsville-Henry County Clean Community Commission to apply for and administer a grant on behalf of the City (with application being to the Division of Litter Control & Recycling of the Virginia Department of Waste Management) in the amount of $9,739.00, appropriated as follows: $3,000.O0for the City of Martinsville, $6,389.00 for the County of Henry; and $350.00 for the Town of Ridgeway. The resolution follows: WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, recognizes the existence of a litter problem within the boundaries of the City; and WHEREAS, the Virginia Waste Management Act provides, through the Virginia Department of Waste Management, Division of Litter Control and Recycling, for the allocation of public funds in the form of Grants for the purpose of enhancing local litter control programs; and WHEREAS, having reviewed and considered the Regulations and the Application covering administration and use of said funds; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, as follows, that it: Hereby endorses and supports such a program for the City of Martinsville; Hereby expresses the intent to combine with Henry County in a mutually agreed upon and Cooperative Program, contingent upon the approval of the Application by the Virginia Department of Waste Management, Division of Litter Control and Recycling, and contingent upon receipt of funds;
