TUESDAY, APRIL 12, 1988 <br /> <br />of his recommended 1988-89 City Budget, whereas other improvements would have <br />to be considered in the updating of the City's Capital Improvements Program <br />and/or be subject to the City's Water/Sewer Extension Ordinance. <br /> <br />Upon the advice of the City Attorney Worthy, Council agreed to consider'in <br />Executive Session the regular agenda item entitled, "Consider approval of <br />acquisition of computer equipment for the Police Department". <br /> <br />City Manager Brown presented a map depicting not only tracts of land within the <br />City's Industrial Park which have been sold and developed but also the location <br />and acreage of undeveloped tracts available for sale through the Martinsville- <br />Henry County Economic'Development Corporation. The undeveloped tracts, being <br />eight in number, represent a total acreage of 108.18 acres and have an <br />estimated value of $538,500.00 <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council authorized City <br />Manager Brown to execute,' on behalf of the City, an agreement with the Virginia <br />Department of Transportation for the relocation and/or reconstruction of Spruce <br />Street, from Prospect Hill Drive eastward to the City's corporate limits, and <br />continuing as a non-City project into Henry County. Mr. Brown reported that <br />the in-City portion of the project will cost a total of $3,742,228.11, of which <br />the City's share will be $218,546.71. <br /> <br />Pursuant to the requirements of subsections (a)(1) and (a)(6) of Section <br />2.1-344 of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly <br />seconded and unanimously carried by a recorded vote, Council convened into an <br /> <br /> <br />
