TUESDAY, MARCH 22, 1988 <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of a report prepared by the City's Finance Department <br />for the period ended February 29, 1988, consisting of a comparison of revenues and <br />expenditures of the City's major funds and a combined fund balance sheet. <br /> <br />Council unanimously called for duly-advertised public hearings tobeconducted by <br />Council at its forthcoming April 12th regular meeting on the following petitions <br />and/or applications, as recommended for Council's approval by the Plannin~ <br />Commission: <br /> <br />AJ <br /> <br />Family YMCA's application for a Special-Use-Permit (and <br />permitting variances from present set-back regulations and <br />off-street parking requirements) to allow for construction~ <br />and operation of a Community Center at 3 Starling Avenue; <br /> <br />Ms. Jean P. Wilson's petition seeking residential (from <br />commercial) zoning of Lots Nos. 10, ii, 13, 14, and 18 <br />situated on the south side of Burl Street and the east <br />side of Fayette Street; and <br /> <br />Martinsville Bulletin's request that certain unused and/or <br />excess right-of-ways situated on the south side of Market <br />Street, between Broad and College Streets (and immediately <br />in front of 10 East Market Street), be vacated and abandoned. <br /> <br />In accordance with applicable requirements of Section 2.1-344 of the CODE OF <br />VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously <br />carried by a recorded vote, Council convened into an Executive Session for the <br />purpose of considering nominees to fill impendent vacancies on the Social <br />Services Administrative Board and on the Overall Economic Development Program <br />Committee. Upon reconvening into regular session, Council took no action on <br />this matter· <br /> <br />Mayor Oakes then declared this meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />W.
