TUESDAY, MARCH 8, 1988 <br /> <br />jail and prison farm, meeting color removal standards in the sewage treatment <br />processes, replacing the East Church Street bridge (estimated to cost <br />$400,000.00-$600,00.00, with little prospect of State aid), water storage tanks, <br />school facilities improvements, a request for a financial contribution to a new <br />YMCA facility, and the proposed E911 emergency communication system (estimated <br />to cost something less than $1,000,000.00). Mr. Brown indicated that, <br />hopefully, more detailed information as to costs of these projects will be <br />available at Counctl's forthcoming March 22nd meeting. <br /> <br />Council unanimously nominated its present member-representatives on the various <br />Virginia Municipal League policy committee for reappointment to the respective <br />committees.for 1988. <br /> <br />Councilman Cole, after referring to matters relating to highway and pedestrian <br />safety, suggested that the City's recently-appointed Housing Study Committee <br />examine a housing program developed in Nelson County by the Nelson County <br />Community Development Foundation. <br /> <br />After announcing that the Virginia General Assembly has designated the local <br />Virginia Museum of Natural History as the official such museum for the <br />Commonwealth of Virginia, Mayor Oakes declared this meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />W.~jH~, C k of Council <br /> <br /> <br />
