TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 1988 <br /> <br />that companion services have already been reduced and cannot be provided.at all <br />in 1988-89 because of deficit funding for Foster Care; that all Title XX <br />Purchase of Service funding for 1987-88 will be exhausted by the end of February <br />(1988); that three children now awaiting residential placement cannot be placed <br /> <br /> of nd <br />because of lac~fu s; and, that her .department can no longer provide mandated <br /> <br />eligibility-and-service programs without adequate funding from the State of <br />Virginia to the extent, at least, the State has been funding. After some <br />discussion, CounCil unanimously directed that the City Manager and the Council's <br />Clerk relay--by letter--to appropriate State officials and legislators the <br />Council's real concern over this development. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged with appreciation the interest in, and support of, the <br />City's efforts toward bringing professional baseball to the City and the <br />community, as expressed recently by the Henry County Board of Supervisors in a <br /> <br />resolution duly adopted by the Board. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation by City Manager Brown, included as a part of his status <br />report on the rehabilitation planning study for the Fayette/Church Street(s) <br />area, Council directed that a duly-advertised public hearing be conducted by <br />Council at its forthcoming February 23rd meeting for the purposes of (I) <br />soliciting and receiving public input on local community development and housing <br />needs and (2) on a proposed application (to the Virginia Department of Housing & <br />Community Development) for a grant of $700,000o00 to fund a proposed Church <br />Street-Fayette Street Target Area project. At said February 23rd meeting, City <br />Manager Brown will present the plan for rehabilitating the target area. <br /> <br /> <br />
