TUESDAY, JANUARY 26, 1988 <br /> <br />(1) considering nominees for appointment to the Board of Directors of The Piedmont <br />Seniors of Virginia, Inc., and for appointment to the Board of the Martinsville- <br />Henry County Economic Development Corporation and (2) considering a real estate <br />matter involving the possible sale of City-owned property. After considering <br />these matters, Council reconvened into regular session in which (a) it unanimously <br />appointed Mr. William D. Hobson, former member of City Council and former Mayor, <br />to membership on the Board of Directors of the Piedmont Seniors'organization for <br />the unexpired term of Mr. William P. Heath, Jr., resigned, which term will end <br />September 28, 1988; (b) unanimously appointed Dr. Claude V. Camden to the same <br />(PSOV) Board for a three-year term beginning February 11, 1988.(succeeding Mrs. <br />Alpha Manson, who has been deemed ineligible for reappointment at this time); (c) <br />it took no action to fill the vacancy on the Board of the Economic Development <br />Corporation (recently brought.'~about by the relocating to Henry County by member <br />William Po Heath, Jr., thus causing him to be ineligible for continued <br />representation of the City on said Board); and (d) it took no action on the real <br />estate matter. <br /> <br />After comments by Mayor Oakes on pending~meetings and legislation and after <br />Councilman Cole's inquiry as to the status of improvements/expansion at the City's <br />sewage treatment plant, on which latter matter City Manager Brown is to present a <br />report, Mayor Oakes declared this meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />W. of Council <br /> <br /> <br />
